A woman who walked off a New York City subway with a newborn in her arms after her train was delayed by a train wreck has been arrested.
The woman was in the back of a Blue Line train in Queens around 8:30 a.m. on Monday when she decided to take her little one with her, the Queens District Attorney’s office said.
The woman said she was walking toward the platform with her baby, who was born in her lap.
She then stopped and the train became stuck, the police said.
The train operator was able to jump into the back and make it clear to the woman that she could not go any further, police said, but she then began yelling at him, saying “I’m pregnant!” and “No more babies!”
The woman then walked off the train, the NYPD said in a statement.
The New York Times reported that the woman was later charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree assault, and was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
