The Times Of India on Thursday reported that the Cox Communications and Open Communication stores are owned by Cox, a telecom and media conglomerate.
The report came a day after the government of the state of Tamil Nadu sought approval for the construction of three telecom and internet companies in the state.
Cox Communications, the country’s biggest telco, has a market share of over 10 per cent in the Indian telecom market.
Its website also said it has around 15 million customers.
In the report, Times of Indepedence noted that the three telecom stores are in different states and would have different lines of communication, and would also have different prices for the telecoms.
According to the report’s author, Anil Kumar, the telecom companies would be the most expensive in the three, with the retail price of the telecom services to be around Rs 10,000 per month.
“The retail prices would be less than the retail prices of the other three telecoms, which would be Telecom Airtel, Idea Cellular and BSNL,” Kumar said.
